  1. Kia ora Riley,

My name is Rachel and I am working with Cadence and Jordan on the Summer Learning Journey programme this year. It's great to see that you are already on activity #2. Like you, I would also feel really nervous about moving to a new country, particularly so many years ago. It would have been pretty scary to not know much about the place that you would be calling 'home.'

I actually moved to New Zealand seven years ago this week. It was pretty scary for me but I was lucky in that I had access to the internet and could learn about New Zealand before I moved. Although I was really nervous I can honestly say that it was the best move that I ever made. I love it here and many of my friends from my home country of Canada have come to visit me here. One of their favourite things to do when they arrive is to go to the beach. Do you enjoy going to the beach?

I hope that you and your family are all having a really enjoyable holiday. I'll look forward to blogging with you again when you're able to re-join the Summer Learning Journey programme and post another activity blog.

    Until then, Merry Christmas/Meri Kirihimete,
    Rachel :)

  3. Mōrena Riley,

Well done on continuing with the Summer Learning Journey programme, you're on fire!

I like how you've described your feelings of moving to a new country, and how you also reflect on how you presume your friend to feel relocating to a new country too.

How do you think your friend Rhumour would go travelling on a waka alone? And where would you meet them in New Zealand? What games would you play when they arrived?

Keep up the great blogging Riley :)

    Cheers,

    Jordan
